Our Purpose
Founded in 2009 by Smithsonian artist, Alana Lea, Rainforest ECO is on a mission to renew an endangered rainforest in Brazil - Mata Atlantica.
Rainforest ECObank is a cooperative enterprise in rural Brazil, working with subsistence farmers who are ready to transition from slash/burn practices to organic, permaculture reforestation.
To date, we have donated 4,194 trees to rural families.
Social Businesses could also be created to fight against climate change. Social business investors, with a strong environmental commitment, could invest in a company which plants trees, increasing the space under forest cover and oxygen in the atmosphere. Entire tracts of landwhere forests once existed could be regenerated through social business...
